‘Government home building plans are good for the heating industry’ says leading trade association HHIC

"The Government plans to build new homes is good news for the heating industry, manufacturers, contractors and installers alike" says leading trade association, the Heating and Hotwater Industry Council, HHIC.

Stewart Clements, HHIC Director said "Building new homes is good news. New build provides the opportunity to look at exactly what technologies are currently available and design them into the build; these homes need to be as sustainable as possible.

We would urge the Government to ensure that the heating systems fitted are as efficient as possible. For example, we would like to see a full suite of heating controls installed to help control any heat generated. We are all now accustomed to the need to reduce the amount of heat we generate through efficient use of the heat source or heating appliance, appropriate insulation and double glazing but less thought is given to controlling the heat once generated, heating controls can reduce energy bills and, in turn, reduce carbon emissions.

We would also like to see carbon monoxide alarms fitted as standard across all properties, any steps we can undertake to reduce the impact of this silent killer must be taken."
