‘Including park home residents in Warm Home Discount initiative is a start to tackling fuel poverty’ says HHIC

Including park home residents in Warm Home Discount initiative is a start to tackling fuel poverty' says Heating and Hotwater Industry Council Director Stewart Clements, following news that low-income residents of static mobile homes are to receive free energy efficiency advice and a discount on their winter fuel bills, as part of a new Ofgem trial.

The scheme is an extension to the government's Warm Home Discount initiative and will run until March 2016.

Mr Clements continued,

"Figures published by AgeUK in October show around 100,000 people aged 65 or over live in static homes, many of which are poorly insulated. Helping people understand their energy usage and offering tailored energy efficiency advice is a great start. If we are serious about tackling fuel poverty, changing the rules to allow park home residents to be included in the Warm Home Discount initiative is a great first step and we applaud DECC for making this change."
